The 4Cs – cut, color, clarity, and carat–is the auniversal standard for measuring a diamond’s value, craftsmanship, and beauty, and the first step in selecting a diamond. See how ours are exceptional.
A diamond’s weight is measured in carats. It is the unit of measurement used worldwide to determine a diamond’s weight and an important factor in determining a diamond’s appearance and value.
A carat measures a diamond’s total weight, not its size.
A carat measures only the weight of the stone itself, without the setting
A carat is exactly 0.20 grams, or 200 milligrams
Diamond prices of are expressed carats, and the diamond's size makes the largest difference.
While carat weight is an important factor in determining a stone’s value, the quality of cut, color and clarity are also considered. Diamonds that are exceptionally cut to maximize the stone’s brilliance may cost more than a stone of greater carat weight.
Our master craftsmen cut for maximum scintillation, and more than 90% of our diamonds meet the superior standards to receive a Signature Ideal cut grade. Upon close inspection, you will see a pattern of perfectly symmetrical “hearts and arrows,” the hallmark of diamonds cut with extreme precision.
Not to be confused with a diamond’s shape—round, square, cushion, oval—cut refers to how a stone’s facets interact with light and unleash its brilliance. Great craftsmanship is required to achieve this culmination of symmetry, proportions and polish.
At Diamond Foundry, our master craftsmen cut for maximum scintillation. Unlike other diamond companies, our stones never leave our control, ensuring the highest level of quality.
All our diamond cuts and shapes are created in our atelier, led by third-generation craftsmen from Antwerp. We can design nearly any diamond shape or cut with the highest level of craftsmanship.
Color is the second most important factor, after cut, in choosing your diamond. The closer a diamond is to colorless, the higher its grade. Diamond Foundry offers only Colorless and Near Colorless diamonds, whose distinction is undetectable to the naked eye.
No diamond is perfect, but the fewer and less visible flaws are,
the higher a diamond’s clarity grade. Diamond Foundry only offers the highest clarity grades.
All diamonds have tiny imperfections, which is why each is unique. Some imperfections are internal, known as “inclusions,” while others are external, known as “blemishes.” The majority are undetectable to the naked eye. For that reason, clarity is the least important of the 4Cs to consider when selecting your diamond. A superior diamond cut and well crafted setting may also minimize their appearance.
